The retreat was used for an intensive exchange on the doctoral students' research projects.

The retreat of the doctoral programme ‘New Challenges in Ageing Societies’ took place from September 30th to October 2nd 2024 at the Aasee Youth Hostel in Münster. It was used for intensive dialogue and in-depth discussions of the PhD students' research projects. The focus was on the topics care, participation and the diverse challenges in ageing research, which were addressed in targeted discussions and presentations.

The presentations by guest speakers Dr Verena Tatzer-Hanten and Dr Johanna Schütz focused on methodological challenges in research on ageing. Dr Verena Tatzer (University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt) addressed the research ethics and methodology aspects of qualitative interviews with vulnerable groups of people, while Dr Johanna Schütz (University of Applied Sciences Kempten) spoke about the use of mixed methods in social science research on care. The retreat enabled a valuable exchange and an inspiring basis for the research projects of the PhD students.
