Prof. Dr. Martina Brandt together with Lisa Paus, Federal Minister for Senior Citizens, at the presentation of the Ninth Report on Ageing at the press conference.
The ninth report on ageing was published on January 8, 2025. In July 2024, it was presented to the Federal Minister for Senior Citizens, Lisa Paus, by the expert commission chaired by Prof. Dr. Martina Brandt.

The report entitled “Growing old in Germany - Diversity of potential and inequality of participation opportunities” shows the diversity of life situations of older people and how their participation opportunities are unequally distributed as a result.

Central topics:

  • Material situation, gainful employment, social participation and health care in old age
  • Interaction of inequality characteristics that lead to disadvantage at an individual level
  • Causes and manifestations of age discrimination
  • Focus particularly on older people with a history of migration and older LGBTI people

Prof. Dr. Martina Brandt has been working on the report with ten experts since 2022 in order to map the diverse life situations of older people in Germany.

Further information and the ninth report on ageing can be found here.
