The Smart Work Conference on 24/25 August 2022 will revolve around the topics of good leadership, work and competence development in the context of digitalisation and marks the conclusion of two big BMBF project consortia. As consortium leader, the Social Research Centre Dortmund and its partners from science and practice will present highlights from the project "Good Work and Leadership in the Socio-Digital Transformation (eLLa4.0)" for discussion. Registrations are still possible.

The Smart Work Double Conference marks the final event of two large BMBF joint projects and will deal with the latest developments in the field of good leadership, work and competence development against the background of current digitalisation developments. As consortium leader of the eLLa project, the Social Research Centre Dortmund and its partners from science and practice will present highlights from the project "Good Work and Leadership in the Socio-Digital Transformation (eLLa4.0)".

The Smart Work Double Conference offers top-class keynotes, a wide range of interactive formats for discussion and many opportunities for networking. Those who still want to register must be quick, because only a few places are still available. The conference language is German. The full programme and the registration form can be found at: https://www.fir.rwth-aachen.de/fileadmin/veranstaltung/fir-smart-work-konferenz-programmbroschuere.pdf

For three years, the team of the BMBF project "Good Leadership and Work in the Socio-Digital-Transformtion" (eLLa4.0) has been working closely with academia (TU Dortmund - Social Research Centre, FIR at RWTH Aachen and Fraunhofer IAO) and practitioners on the question of how leadership changes as a result of digitalisation, and how it can be designed in such a way that employees can optimally assert their participation rights. In concrete terms, this involved the introduction of VR glasses (Belfor DeHaDe),  the development of a network organisation (Beumer Group), the introduction of bots in stock-keeping (DMG Mori) and the development of a management workshop in the context of virtual learning environments (WBS Training). A central result is the piloted one-week training course "Leadership Expert4.0" for managers. This is partly carried out in the demonstrator factory of the FIR or the Future Worklab of the Fraunhofer IAO.

The aim of the LidA joint project was to identify individual competence needs, to develop employee-specific learning development paths and to constantly transfer knowledge into teaching and learning modules by means of suitable didactics and to make them available on a learning platform. Within the framework of the research project, the participating scientific institutions, together with company partners, developed company-specific competence catalogues. These make it possible to derive the necessary competences from the changed areas of responsibility. In addition, concrete teaching and learning concepts can be created on the basis of the catalogue. In this way, companies can meet their individual continuing education needs. The scientific institutions included the International Performance Research Institute (IPRI), theFIR at RWTH Aachen University and the Department of Teaching-Learning Research of the Institut for Psychology and Education of the University of Ulm. Practical partners were: Databay AG, leifos GmbH, Mauser + Co. GmbH, TRUMPF GmbH & Co KG as well as Volkswagen AG.

The Smart Work Conference of the projects eLLa4.0 and LidA has also invited a number of other thematically appropriate projects from the context of the BMBF funding framework "Interaction Work" to make guest contributions: These include the BMBF projects „Digital Leadership and Technologies for Tomorrow´s“ (teamIn), „Communication, Innovation und Learning in Production Organisation under Conditions of Agile Digitalisation“ (KilPad) und the project Competence-oriented Interaction Work in Care (KomIn).
