At the all-day event, which was hosted by the Social Research Center, the key findings of the SPIRE-SAIS project were presented to around 70 attendees online and on-site. These were then contrasted and illustrated with perspectives from other stakeholders and projects.
In addition to project manager Antonius Schröder, the speakers from the Social Research Center included researchers Clara Behrend, who moderated a session and presented the GreenSME project, and Michael Kohlgrüber, who presented the IS2H4C project. In addition, representatives of European associations (Klaus Peters (ESTEP), Sophie Grenade (IndustriALL), Aurela Shtiza (IMA Europe), Christian Leroy (European Aluminium), Miikka Nieminen (EUROFER)) and of the European Commission (Project Officer Paolo Zancanella (EACEA) and Felix Rohn (DG Employment)) contributed to the conference.
The central topics were:
- the fundamental need for a skilled workforce with the simultaneous challenge of attracting new talent to the industries
- the fundamental need for strategic planning and action
- the lack of specific job profiles for industrial symbiosis in the companies
- the willingness of alliance members to continue their current work in the future, e.g. within the framework of the Large Scale Partnership for Energy-Intensive Industries (LSP EII) and via cooperation with skills projects in other sectors
