Prof. Dr. Johannes Weyer in the podcast of the WZB

The success of crisis management in corona societies depends on the steering ability of the state, but also on the willingness of people to follow the recommendations of politicians and to adapt their behaviour accordingly. In his lecture on the 21 October 2020, Prof. Dr. Johannes Weyer presented results of current empirical studies on both topics. He also developed proposals for the methods sociology can use to play through conceivable future scenarios and thus contribute to social crisis management.

Johannes Weyer is Professor of Sociology of Technology at the Technical University of Dortmund. He is concerned with human-machine interaction in highly automated systems, the control (and transformation) of complex socio-technical systems and the real-time society.
