Situated research on knowledge and current challenges in the sociology of knowledge.
Conference of the Section Sociology of Knowledge
23-24 June 2022, TU Dortmund University
Today, the sociology of knowledge is faced with a special situation of justification that cannot be resolved through the subject area alone, i.e. being engaged with 'knowledge'. There are two central challenges to this. First, the increasing plurality and multidisciplinarity of scientific knowledge research, which both complements and competes with the sociology of knowledge. Second, the social, cultural and political dynamics of knowledge relations themselves, which are on the move and lead to a social generalisation of knowledge observation. Both developments are – partly more, partly less tension-filled – interconnected.. In both ways, multiple forms of knowledge production and knowledge analysis come into play, which will be highlighted in their current significance and in their consequences for the sociology of knowledge.
Registration is possible up to and including 16 June at wissenssoziologie.fk17tu-dortmund.de, subject "Multiples Wissen".
